Just so everyone knows what my status is: I've been travelling and
have just returned and will try to get properly involved in these
questions now. Firstly, it seems that I fell off the spi-board alias
some time ago - I haven't seen any recent mail. I'm trying to get
myself resubscribed. Secondly, indeed, I wasn't aware until a day or
two before I left (at the end of November) of the fact that
spi-general had any traffic; my gateway for that has never functioned
at all as far as I can tell. So I got myself subscribed then and am
now catching up on the messages that have arrived in the meantime
while I was away.

When I've caught up you can be sure I'll stick my oar in.
