I thought this might be interesting... at some point we may want to talk to
these people to see if there's something we can do together. I've talked to
Roger a few times, but not recently.

Nils.

SEUL has added a number of new projects over the past few months,
focusing on providing more useful (or appealing) end-user applications
for the Linux platform:

gFTP is a multithreaded FTP client for UNIX based machines running X
Windows. It features simultaneous downloads, bookmarks menu to easily
manage your sites, ftp and http proxy support, and much much more. Its
official homepage is http://gftp.seul.org, and you can download the
source code at http://gftp.seul.org/gftp-2.0.5a.tar.gz as well as an RPM
at http://gftp.seul.org/gftp-2.0.5-1.i386.rpm and even a Slink DEB for
Debian at http://gftp.seul.org/gftp_2.0.5a-1_i386.deb

GPeriodic is a periodic table application for Linux. It allows you to
browse through a periodic table of the elements, and view detailed
information on each of the elements. 118 elements are currently listed.
The homepage is at http://gperiodic.seul.org/ and the current tarball is
at ftp://ftp.seul.org/pub/gperiodic/gperiodic-1.2.6.tar.gz
RPM: ftp://ftp.seul.org/pub/gperiodic/rpm/gperiodic-1.2.6-1.i386.rpm

gPS is a graphical process status tool for Linux, working like ps and
top (or the Windows Task Manager). It may refresh automatically every
second or refresh upon user requests. Homepage is at
http://gps.seul.org/, latest version is 0.4.1 at
ftp://ftp.seul.org/pub/gps/gps-latest.tar.gz

GtkPool is a pool simulation/game engine written with Gtk. It currently
supports 8-ball pool, complete with customizable physics.
http://gtkpool.seul.org, download the latest version at
http://gtkpool.seul.org/gtkpool-0.3.2.tar.gz or the RPM at
http://gtkpool.seul.org/gtkpool-0_3_2-1_i386.rpm

Project Independence (http://independence.seul.org/) is in the
`Comparison of Linux Distributions' in the September Linux Journal:
http://linuxjournal.com:8080/lj-issues/distable.html

We're hosting the list archives for the Kidsgames project:
http://www.smluc.org/SIA/kidgames/
http://www.seul.org/archives/kidsgames/

Pingus is a Lemmings-like game undergoing heavy development, and
although it is early in the development stage, the author is looking for
players to test the game. Homepage is http://pingus.seul.org/ and tarball is
http://pingus.seul.org/pingus-0.2.3.tar.gz
Pingus requires three other libraries, described on the homepage as well as
in the documentation.

Roster is a set of perl scripts that automate adding students and staff
to a wide variety of school servers. Website is at
http://roster.seul.org/, and the latest tarball is
http://roster.seul.org/downloads/roster-0.8.1.2.tar.gz

Settlers is a game based on the German boardgame 'Settlers of Catan'.
It's designed for 2-4 players in a network game. Website is at
http://settlers.seul.org/, and the latest tarball can be found at
http://settlers.seul.org/Settlers_1_1.tar.gz

X ARCHON--an X11 clone of the original ARCHON from the early '80s--is
a game somewhat resembling chess, except the strategy is simpler,
and there is one-on-one combat when two pieces want the same square.
The homepage can be found at http://xarchon.seul.org and the latest
tarball is ftp://xarchon.seul.org/pub/xarchon/xarchon-0.43.tar.gz.
