On March 20th, SPI services will be updated. As a consequence, members.spi-inc.org and lists.spi-inc.org may become unreachable for a few hours.
SPI is modernizing some of its services:
- The members applications has been re-written as a Django app and is visually similar to the previous one and will now act as a centralized login system for SPI services.
- the mailing list system will be moved to PGLister [1], the mailing-list system used for and developed by the PostgreSQL project.
SPI will now use members as a centralized login system for mailing lists and archives. As passwords will be imported from the previous members application, you have nothing to do after the migration. That said, it is advised to change your password anyway after the migration, to ensure a stronger encryption in the database.
After the migration, the different addresses will be:
- members.spi-inc.org will remain the address of the Members application and will be the address for the centralized login system
- lists.spi-inc.org will contain a deployment of PGLister for lists
- archives.spi-inc.org will contain mailing list archives for public lists
- archives-private.spi-inc.org will contain mailing list archives for private lists
