A message on a mailing list can be an email sent to multiple recipients.

SPI's website allows to consult the archives of some of its mailing
lists. For example, spi-general's archives can be consulted via
http://lists.spi-inc.org/pipermail/spi-general/
Unfortunately, archives do not display the recipients of the message
being displayed. This can make it difficult to understand the context of
cross-posted messages, as well as to fully participate in a cross-posted
discussion.

For example, the following message was sent not only to spi-general, but
also to spi-private and other recipients:
http://lists.spi-inc.org/pipermail/spi-general/2021-March/004133.html
