This is a notice of the upcoming election for the SPI Board of
Directors. The Directors are the lifeblood of the organization
and are responsible for the smooth running of the affairs and
business of SPI. This year there are three (3) vacant positions
due to expiring appointments, with no known resignations:

(1) President
(2) Vice President
(3) Director

Elections are governed by SPI Resolution 2004-08-10.dbg.2 [1].

Please contact secretary(at)spi-inc(dot)org if you would like to
nominate yourself for this important position.

The ideal candidate will have an existing involvement in the
Free and Open Source community, though this need not be with an
SPI-affiliated project.

Please direct any questions about SPI board membership to the
spi-general mailing list, or to #spi on irc.spi-inc.org (OFTC),
before the formal nomination period closes.

The formal nomination period will open on Tuesday, July 9th and
run for 13 days. If required, an election will occur via secret
ballot of SPI contributing members. This schedule will be used:

* Tuesday July 9th 2024 00:00 UTC - Nomination period opens
* Sunday July 21st 2024 23:59 UTC - Nomination period closes
* Tuesday July 23rd 2024 00:00 UTC - Voting commences
* Monday Aug. 5th 2024 23:59 UTC - Voting closes
* Tuesday Aug. 6th 2024 00:00 UTC - Results announced

Potential board members should be able to commit to attending
the monthly board meetings, which are conducted publicly via IRC
(#spi on the OFTC network). These take place at 20:00 UTC on the
second Monday of every month. More details, including all past
agendas and minutes, are found at https://spi-inc.org/meetings/.

To clarify, these are the expiring appointments, but the three
positions are for Director, not specifically for Officer roles.

Dear SPI members,

I have received exactly two nominations, and there are three
vacancies, so no election will be held this year.

Results will be announced Tuesday Aug. 6th 2024 at 00:00 UTC
